Decorating a boys' room with a color palette of neutral and green tones
The moment your little one is ready for a new room always feels like a milestone. Four-year-old Moos was allowed to move into a new room in the attic. The start of a new chapter, and the perfect moment for a complete makeover of his new and cool boys' room.
Moos' mother Thea signed up for Elina's photoshoot Tuk Make-Over, and the spacious attic was transformed into a cool, warm, and playful boys' room where color, imagination, and character come together. The foundation? A carefully chosen color palette with our child-friendly paint in the colors Crunch, Elephant, Moss and No Name.

A nursery that suits cool Moos
Moos is a boy with endless energy and curiosity. As Thea beautifully describes it: "Sudocrem on the walls, fingers in the pasta pot, sprawling out in puddles, nothing is too wild for Moos. He's a real rascal... but a very sweet one."
His new room therefore had to be more than just a beautiful space: it had to be a place where he could play, discover, relax, and dream. The bright attic room with slanted walls and a cozy nook offered plenty of space for this, although the layout required a well-thought-out color scheme.

The color palette: cool, warm and balanced
When designing a boys' room, color plays a big role. Colors not only determine the atmosphere, but also how a space feels. For Moos, a calming yet adventurous and cool-looking palette was deliberately chosen. You'll recognize four of our favorite colors in the room:
Crunch as a warm base
The soft beige tone Crunch forms the main color of the room.
This color is ideal as a base color for a child's room: warm, light, timeless and easy to combine. Crunch ensures that the room is not too busy and provides a calm background for playing, sleeping and learning.
No Name for depth and contrast
Because the attic room is large and bright, a more powerful counterpart was needed.
That role was given to No Name, a deep, cool color that works perfectly in the play corner. This shade gives the room structure and security and makes the space visually more exciting.
Elephant brings green with character
To add more life to the palette, we opted for wainscoting in Elephant.
This grayish-green shade is a fantastic choice for a boys' room: calm, natural, and yet dark enough for the right color effect.
Moss for the tough detail
As a finishing touch, Moss connects all the colors.
The dark green edge between paint and wallpaper gives the whole thing just that extra cool edge and completes the color palette.
Together, these shades form a perfectly balanced combination of paint colors for a boys' room: warm, playful, cool, and timeless.

Wallpaper and paint in the nursery
The design's foundation was laid with subtle hot air balloon wallpaper.
The calm color palette of the wallpaper allowed for real character to be added with paint. The result is a room that is both stimulating and soothing, exactly what a child's room needs.
Paint colors outside your comfort zone
For Thea, this makeover was a small leap of faith.
"I'm usually into beige tones - my middle name is beige," she laughs.
"But this room is wonderfully colorful. Something I would never have dared to imagine myself. Yet, it feels absolutely right."
And that's exactly what good color inspiration for a child's room does: it shows how paint can transform a space and how color choices truly bring a room to life.
Moos' room shows that a children's room can be warm, cool, and functional. With a few good choices in paint and wallpaper, you can give the space a totally unique character: a room that grows with your child and where he or she can truly be themselves.
