When you see a beautiful house for sale and you can look past the dilapidated state, you have the opportunity to realize the house of your dreams. Laura and Mudi took on the challenge and threw themselves into a months-long renovation of a 1920s house that needed some love. The goal was always to realize a beautiful family home for themselves and their two beautiful daughters. The attic was reserved for the two girls and Elina was allowed to help make it a dream place. The house became more than beautiful and the two girls now have their own domain in the attic. Come and take a look inside Julie's dreamy children's room!
Girls room in the attic
Before and during a major renovation, you have to make many choices in the field of interior. After her plans for the first two floors of their new house, Laura got stuck on the last project: the attic floor. The spacious floor would become the play and sleeping area for daughters Julie and Livia and was to radiate a stylish and dreamy atmosphere. Elina had the honor of helping Laura with the choices that had to be made for paint colors, wallpaper, furniture and accessories.
The house was restored to its original style in many areas. The beams on the ceiling were freed from thick old layers of paint and all the woodwork was refurbished. The rooms were fitted with a beautiful oak floor and the room of eldest daughter Julie was made larger and much brighter with an extra dormer window. It was the ideal basis for an atmospheric girls' nursery!
Pink paint colors and floral wallpaper
Julie's room was given a soft pink tint on all walls and (sloping) ceilings. A choice that can be quite exciting, but the warm tint created the right atmosphere in the room and turned out great. On the long wall, Elina recommended a high 'paneling' with the Bibelotte Bloemenzee wallpaper. Because this wall has many sloping parts and is interrupted by beams, the straight wallpaper strip was a nice solution to keep this wall calm. The soft pink base is freshly complemented with off-white accessories.
Creative children's room layout
The sloping roof sections required a creative layout. Elina came up with a cozy reading corner and a cozy play area with a play table under the window, where Julie can play with her little sister or friends. Julie's bed, together with the beautiful canopy, became the center of the room. By combining different subtle flower prints with each other, both in the bedding and in cushions and accessories, a cozy atmosphere has been created and this room has become soft and girly.
