Shades of green in Duke's boy's room

Color inspiration for an atmospheric and cool boy's room

The new room that was created for Duke in the attic was allowed to become a really cool toddler room. For the photoshoot 'Tuk Make-Over' Elina got to work on a children's room design, in which a playful pear wallpaper and the paint colours Drizzle , Elephant and Hazelwood formed the basis. The result? A warm, cosy and yet cool boy's room full of colour inspiration - perfect for a toddler boy.

In the attic of Stijn and Arjanne's house, space became available for two brand new children's rooms. Their sons James and Duke are now old enough to exchange their children's rooms on the first floor for the attic, where they each have their own place. The attic space is high and spacious, which calls for smart color choices to make the rooms feel cozy and snug.

Children's room wallpaper as a starting point

When designing Duke's new room, he was allowed to have a say in the color choices - and especially the wallpaper. He was presented with three options and immediately chose the pear wallpaper in shades of gray. A playful and stylish design that fits perfectly with a toddler room for a boy. The wallpaper forms a nice starting point for the rest of the color palette in the room

Soft shades of gray and warm accents

The light grey colour Drizzle fitted in beautifully with the chosen children's room wallpaper. This shade was not only applied to the sloping walls, but also to the Ikea Pax wardrobe and a self-made desk. This creates peace and unity in the room - something that is essential in a space where play and rest are needed.

But of course, color inspiration doesn’t stop at one shade. Elina added the fresh color Hazelwood , which gives a cheerful twist to the Ikea Ivar cabinets. As a connecting color between the soft gray and the fresh green, she chose Elephant , a soft shade of green that was applied to the high wall. This combination of colors makes the room both tough and sweet – ideal for a toddler.

Children's room inspiration: balance between style and functionality

What makes this boy's room so successful is the combination of a well-considered colour palette and practical elements. By repeating certain colours in multiple places - such as on the furniture and the walls - visual peace is created. At the same time, the playful accents and the cheerful wallpaper provide the necessary childlike energy. That makes this boy's room nicely balanced, for now and for the future.

Not only Duke is happy with his room, mother Arjanne is also enthusiastic: "I especially like the color combinations with Duke. It has become a very atmospheric room, which is used with great pleasure!"
